Terminal General Manager

As the Terminal General Manager, you will be responsible for overall site operations management responsibility for a drayage operation with between 30 and 80¬ Independent Contractors (IC). You will handle terminal P&L, safety, customer service, IC onboarding, operations staff development, and intermodal asset management. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Manage overall terminal P&L to established budgets and forecasts

  • Oversee all terminal dispatch, planning, and document management functions

  • Maintain terminal operational performance including on-time pick-up and delivery, volume, equipment balance, and empty miles

  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and orderly terminal office and yard

  • Manage the effectiveness of terminal operations interaction and relationship with ICs; responsible for managing IC tractor maintenance compliance and service delivery

  • Ensure terminal staff is properly trained and participate in continuous learning courses

  • Act as a back-up in the absence of Operations staff members

  • Independent contractor recruiting and retention meeting established fleet size goals

  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems

  • Manage 1 to 2 subordinate supervisor(s) who supervises a total of 6 to 15 employees

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 8 years of logistics or transportation experience

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, operations or general

  • Basic knowledge or strong fluency of Windows applications and Microsoft Office Suite programs (MS Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees

  • Ability to present organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience

  • Strong aptitude towards identifying and resolving problems

  • Excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
