Sr. Product Engineer (Consumer Packaged Goods a must)

Summary:
Designs, develops, and improves new or existing products and directs the building and testing of prototypes. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of problems of medium to large size and complexity and or has the ability to handle multiple small projects. Works with Marketing Product Managers regarding ideas, drawings and products in the development of designs, to resolve problems and provide prototypes. Oversees the development projects throughout the entire cycle from initial concept through successful completion. To finish projects in accordance to specifications and within schedule and budget limitations.

o Reports to Senior VP Operations
Work Performed (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):
o Demonstrate sound engineering techniques to develop robust designs that achieve results with minimum iterations of prototyping & testing.
o Demonstrate ability to utilize CAE, Moldflow, and DFMEA to refine the final designs.
o Final design has dimensions and tolerances that identify critical to quality criteria.
o Target no design driven changes during product launch.
o First time through for validation testing.
o Demonstrate ability to proactively develop solutions that meet program deliverables for cost, quality and product performance.
o Ability to achieve Project 'wants' without compromise.
o Seek solutions that enable the business to achieve a compelling competitive advantage in the marketplace (patents, proprietary processes, flexible designs that produce multiple configurations).
o Develop tool or best practice that helps improve department or Product Development Process.

Position Requirements /Qualifications
o Proven ability to define and create product specifications for manufacturing through standard design and reverse engineering techniques.
o Strong engineering experience, particularly dealing with plastic, fabric and chemical products
o Skilled in structured problem-solving and process analysis skills, using a systematic, disciplined and data-based process that gets to the root cause to solve problems
o Team facilitation and leadership skills.
o Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
o Ability to work on multiple projects under time constraints within a fast paced environment.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD, and Visio/Process Mapping.
o Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (preferably plastics, manufacturing, mechanical or materials science). Advance degree a plus.
o Green Belt Certification a plus.
o Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
o 7-10 years of work experience in product design, product test, reverse engineering, test protocol development and product conformance analysis in a design or manufacturing environment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
