We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team.
The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling transportation services, ensuring timely delivery of goods and materials.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain and logistics, with experience in dispatching, drayage, and transportation planning.
Responsibilities:
-Coordinate and schedule transportation services, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods and materials.
- Communicate with drivers to provide instructions, updates, and directions.
- Monitor routes and track shipments using geographical system.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulations.
- Work closely with 3PL (Third Party Logistics) providers to optimize fleet management.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities.
- Resolve any issues or delays that may arise during transportation.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements:
- 3
years dispatch experience with the Port of LA/LB - Knows how to add/delete drivers from port systems.
- Knows how to schedule/change appointments using the terminal websites.
- Skills to manage a small fleet of drivers.
- Able to foresee and plan work for 3 days in advance.
- Strong knowledge of logistics and transportation processes.
- Capacity to deal with emergency and unexpected issues - Skills to move drivers and appointments around efficiently.
- Ability to dispatch without incurring demurrage and per-diem fees.
- Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and remain in compliance.
