PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Maintenance Front Line Leader/Scheduler is responsible for performance and continued growth of the Compton maintenance team, including the safety of all employees, process optimization, and training and development.
The Front Line Leader must function at high levels of effectiveness at both the hands-on and the strategic levels.
This includes leading scheduling of all maintenance work, coordinate and direct the work of employees in the maintenance department, respond promptly to employee issues and concerns, preventative and predictive maintenance, facilities repairs and contractor supervison.
The successful Maintenance Front Line Leader/Scheduler provides leadership that enables team members to excel at meeting all safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
They are accountable for building an engaged workforce characterized by mutual trust, open communication, teamwork, and recognition that positively impacts the plant performance.
The Maintenance Front Line Leader is also accountable for maintaining preventative and predictive maintenance standards for plant equipment in order to provide optimum run time in the safest and most cost effective manner.
This role is essential to the Compton facility.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Living the Safety stand and adhering to safety responsibilities Ensures a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment, and builds a culture where safety is the number one priority.
Leads the execution of monthly team safety requirements, including completion of behavior-based safety observations, hazard recognition, safety meetings/trainings, pre-shift safety inspections, departmental inspections, hearing examinations, etc.
Participates in the investigation of safety incidents and leads root cause analysis to drive for permanent resolution.
Reports and investigates injuries, first aids and near misses.
Knowing our customersDevelop and implement procedures and systems to ensure equipment consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Understands and communicates customer expectations to the team, and ensures all products meet customer standards and requirements.
Leading and developing talent Provides candid feedback on expectations and performance to members of the team on a regular basis and drives appropriate actions for further improvement.
Recognizes and rewards positive behaviors and contribution to critical plant performance metrics.
Invests in the growth and development of team members and others to achieve sustained success.
Partners with relevant stakeholders to ensure team members are well trained and up to date on certifications required to perform the full scope of the job.
Builds and leads effective work teams and committees to increase plant performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Effectively communicates critical plant performance metrics to team members on a daily basis to ensure engagement.
Monitors and enforces all plant and corporate policies and procedures.
Supporting OperationsPartners with the Operations Department to determine causes of slow time and downtime and drive improvements.
Manages maintenance data collection and information gathering to more effectively provide planned maintenance serviceEnsures operating equipment is in the proper condition and assets are maintained cost effectivelyLeads and assists members of support team with initial planning of PM's and other maintenance activitiesUtilizes SAP and associated tools to organize and control work instructions and document maintenance activities and findingsAssigns work orders per SAP rulesSubmits monthly labor utilization and work order completion reportsNetworks with other plants, S&T and other relevant groups to identify and implement best practices for continuous improvement of plant performance metricsDefines required maintenance actions to resolve equipment issuesDocuments Machine and Equipment Performance CharacteristicsCollaborates with key stakeholders and takes action to achieve desired output (OE) of the plant.
Aids in the development and implementation of the plant capital plan.
Performs root cause analysis in partnership with key stakeholders to address issues, and resolves those issues in a timely manner.
Leverages standard work to minimize variation and waste.
SchedulingUtilizes Site Calendar, Daily Management Systems, Production Schedule, Resource Availability Schedule and Work Order Backlog to generate Weekly and Daily Schedules.
Generates the Preliminary Weekly Schedule and Ready Backlog list the afternoon prior to the Weekly Schedule Meeting.
Facilitates the Weekly Schedule Meeting.
Finalizes and publishes the Weekly Schedule.
Updates User Status of all scheduled jobs to SCHD.
Update the System Status of completed Work Order.
Close all Activity Reports and Notifications associated with completed Work Orders.
Leads Continuous Improvement ActivitiesLeads focused Improvement activities to improve process capability and efficiencies, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
Partners with relevant stakeholders to optimize process and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Participates in and leads Kaizen and 5S events in various work areas throughout plant.

The base salary range for this position is $81,650-$105,800 with the potential for up to an additional 25% if the applicant hired has additional related qualifications.
